SXSW Interactive 2008 – Pre-Morning Wakeup Planning

Slept terrible last night so going to grab the starbucks. Today is the first full day. There are ton of events going on and as usual so many at the same time. The schedule online at sxsw.com is really hard to use. I came across this site that manages the SXSW schedule in a unique and highly usefull manner. If I only had a printer. The first session I plan on trying to attend half / and half of the accessibility and Design is in the details. There are 2 other panels I would like to attend at 10:00 but I don’t see that happening.

Last night attended the mix at 6 party. It was much more crowded then last year. Met a few people in line, but once inside it was really too crowded to socialize. Once again they failed to listen and cranked the music loud. So we all had to yell at the top of our voices to talk to other people. Why didn’t they listen to last year and actually keep the music a bit lower like background noise. It was much easier to talk to people outside.

After staying there a few minutes met some new people and headed to dinnner. Moved location to the Spider House Bar and then off to a musuem for some more socializing. The art on display as Latin virgins and saints. One particular painting really was disturbing. It was a large mural of hell and heaven. The night was going to continue to the next venue but it was nw 11:30 or 12:00 so I opted to head back to the hotel and get a good nights rest. As you could tell from up above that did not happen!

Book Reviews: “Web Form Design Filling in the Blanks” I highly recommend Luke Wroblewski’s book “Web Form Design Filling in the Blanks.” I first came across this book many months back and since then it has retained a coveted spot on my reference shelf. An interesting thing happened the other day that made me think of this book. Cue... Feb 4th, 2009 | no responses
Corporate Conflicts A Cantakerous Cacophany of Confusion. One topic that constantly is under debate in the corporate design world is: “Who makes the final decision.” Does the designer, business analyst, information architect, developer etc? Personally, this has been a major area of contention. When it comes to design and the user interface... Mar 24th, 2007 | no responses

UI Design Dissection: Jack in the Box Self Order Machine Today for lunch I decided to swing by Jack in the Box. Little did I know I was about to have a unique UI experience. Upon arriving we were introduced to the brand new (at least in this area) self order system. And thus began my customer experience. My initial reaction was one of horror. I... Twitter is a great way to share new and exciting resources with all our viewers. Each day I provide links and commentary on all things UI. You can find UI resources, UI design examples, new techniques, and a lot more by Following @UIDESIGNGUIDE on Twitter.

The idea for this design blog first came about two years ago at SXSW Interactive.

Currently UI Design guide is in its fourth redesign. This site takes quite a bit of time to maintain as well as write the content. Just like UI Design this site is a passion that keeps evolving.

Inside, I cover articles on many topics icluding: lessons, prototyping methods, agile UX methods, design reviews, design challenges, application features, and of course design experiences, just to name a few.

With all the blogs out there you may be asking yourself who are you to give advice? That's a fair question. If you have a moment feel free to read about my design history.
